Unbelievable facts
The mummy of a little girl named Rosalia Lombardo baffles scientists.
That's because her eyes blink several times a day.
This girl is really dead (died of pneumonia in 1920), but why is she blinking?
Mummy girl

Rosalia Lombardo's father decided to embalm her before her funeral at the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Sicily.
The work was so well done that when researchers discovered the mummified body, they named it Sleeping Beauty.
Indeed, the baby looks like a two-year-old sleeping girl.
Scientists tried to discover the secret of this embalming technique and installed a video camera on Rosalia's sarcophagus. The camera captured a strange phenomenon: the mummy's eyes opened and closed several times during the day.

Optical illusions
The curator of the Capuchin catacomb said that this incomprehensible phenomenon is nothing more than an optical illusion created by the play of light that penetrates through the side windows.
However, as the mummy has been kept in perfect condition for many years, no one even gives an answer.
It was made by Sicilian taxidermist and embalmer Salafia, who died in 1933. There are no records of the composition of the chemicals used in its conservation.
The oldest mummy

The oldest human mummy discovered is about 8,000 years old.
It was found in Chile during excavations by little-known Chinchorro fishing communities that used a complex mummification process.
