Unbelievable facts

All normal parents think their children are special.

But there's a big difference between a smart kid and a kid with incredible intelligence, or simply put, a genius.

Genius usually appears at an early age. Here are ten signs that suggest you're raising a genius child.

Characteristics of gifted children

Young children may have some signs of extraordinary intelligence. You might not even notice it until you start comparing him to other kids the same age. Your family doctor might notice them. These are the first signs:

The child grasps everything on the fly.

In early childhood or infancy, the child shows a prolonged concentration of attention.

The development of language skills is evident.

These children develop motor skills rapidly.

At some point, they start to have both hands.

They may have imaginary friends.

These babies start speaking their first words early at around nine months of age.

They start reading early and are able to pass the readability test (ease of reading index) by the age of four.

These kids start to show their sense of humor at a very early age.

10 signs of high intelligence in a child

1. The child begins to read at an early age

Some brilliant children can already read well by the age of three with and without minimal training. This skill comes from an excellent memory. They remember lots of words they've seen in books or heard you say them when you read them.

This is the most popular sign of exceptional intelligence. Children have an incredibly strong thirst for reading. Sometimes you even have to ask them to stop reading so they can eat or go to bed.

Finding the right books for them is not always easy. It is better to look at classics that are not too childish, but not too difficult to read and understand, for example: Treasure Island, Pippi Longstocking, The Adventures of Robin Hood.

2. A child is creative when he plays alone

All children love games, but children with exceptional intelligence are very imaginative, especially when they play alone.

They often come up with an imaginary friend, and while many may be imaginative, brilliant children are even more imaginative.

A gifted boy told his father that his imaginary friend was a former U.S. President. Gifted children build entire worlds around them based on what they've read or seen.

Research has shown that children who have an imaginary friend are more likely to be creative — they are better at telling stories and are more likely to fantasize.

3. The child is often curious.

Kids always love to learn new things. In gifted children, this character trait is particularly pronounced. They try to ask questions often, they want to know everything, they want to know, and sometimes parents find it hard to ask a lot of questions.

This is a great time to start getting hold of books and looking online for information on topics that interest children. Teach children how to safely search for answers online, show them interesting and useful sites like Wikipedia, National Geographic Russia, and more.

4. Persistence

When a genius child finds an interesting topic, he is eager to learn as much as he can. He starts asking lots of questions, reading about the topic, and talking about it. They are dedicated to finding answers and solving problems. They spend a great deal of time and effort on this topic.

One boy liked the story of World War II. He read every book he could find on the subject and then wrote a 200-page war novel based on what he had read at the age of eight.

5. Creativity

A gifted child can be very creative. Research has shown that creative people are able to come up with new ways to solve problems, while smart people solve problems through logical thinking.

Scientists are not yet able to find a link between intelligence and creativity, but it is believed that if a child is creative, then he is more likely to have exceptional intelligence.

Creativity allows the child to think outside the box and be more creative.

Gifted children have the following creative qualities:

Independence of ideas

He makes up stories, sometimes based on real or unreal events

He can find many creative, non-trivial solutions

He can improvise very well

Such a child does not care that he is not like others

He may be distracted by his own ideas

It has its own schedule

In some cases, he may take a risk

He often dreams about his own ideas.

6. Great memory

A gifted child can have an amazing memory, especially for some facts, figures, and personalities. Some children with exceptional intelligence can easily remember a new phone or car number just for fun.

Like an open book, they literally give out the information they read. Quite often, these children memorize math facts and word spelling right after they first see them.

Be careful with your promises, as these children remember everything and will “torture” you until you give them what you promised.

7. Gifted children are very sensitive

They are very sensitive because they understand their own feelings and those of others very well. These babies are also sensitive to any touch, so they don't like prickly clothes, or clothes with labels that can scratch.

They don't like socks with seams or too stiff, or an upholstered chair/chair. It's not easy for all parents to adapt to these personality traits, but it's part of who your child is. We should try to adapt as much as possible to the preferences of children, while not indulging all their whims.

8. Willpower

Sometimes gifted children have breakdowns. They can easily get upset when they have to stop doing things they love or when they think they're not being listened to.

They don't understand why they should stop reading because it's very important to them. They will begin to persuade them to let them do what they want, and their arguments will be very compelling.

9. Great sense of humor

Gifted kids are very funny. They can make great jokes, and they can do it quite often. If you add to that their willingness to talk about things and ask questions all the time, these comedians can take over an entire class.

Teachers find these kids amazing but also distracting. They like to make teachers laugh, and some of the jokes may not be understood by their peers.

10. They may seem arrogant

Children who are very intelligent may appear older than their age. Thanks to their rich vocabulary and communication skills, they enjoy interacting with adults on their wave. They can sometimes seem rude and shameless, especially when they manage to correct an adult's mistake or when they ask them a personal question.

They may seem rude, but they're actually just curious or funny.

Because adults can think abstractly, some treat gifted children like their peers, but these children are still children. They may lack emotional intelligence. First they talk about a difficult physics problem, and then they get really upset because they hate broccoli for lunch.

The development of a gifted child

If you're the parent of a gifted child, you'll be surprised by his ability to think logically and by his rich vocabulary. He will load you with questions and never end up telling you new information he recently read.

You'll have to constantly stimulate his intelligence with good books and activities. Take them to museums, parks and gardens, historic sites and forests. Try to provide them with as many different sensations as possible.

Help your child go through difficult social situations, teach him to be polite, even when he is very interested in how many times the cafe owner has gone to the toilet.

Develop with him, trying to find answers to the child's questions that many adults do not know the answer to. Be real support to them, especially when they are sad or upset, show love to them and try to understand them.

You don't have to constantly pat him on the head and tell your child how smart he is. Because of this, the child can grow up to be selfish, to whom everyone owes something. Teach him to think about others, share and help.

And most importantly, love your child not for his intelligence, but for what a wonderful, kind and responsible person he is.
