Via Garibaldi
Via Garibaldi is the personification of Genoese aristocracy, the apotheosis of the heyday of the Genoese “blue blood”, “the street of kings”, according to Germaine de Stael, and in fact, the main street of the historical center of the city, which in 2006 became a UNESCO monument as part of the Palazzi dei Rolli palace list.
Lantern Lighthouse
No port can do without a lighthouse — a guiding beam in the night, which does not allow ships to crash on the rocks. The Lantern Lighthouse has been such a saving ray for Genoa for almost 900 years. This symbol of Genoa, built in 1128, reaches a height of 76 meters.
Palazzi dei Rolli
Palazzi dei Rolli, or “palaces from the list” is a part of the urban development of Genoa, consisting exclusively of palazzi that belonged to the Genoese aristocracy of the 16th century. Palaces were built mainly in the early Baroque era on the streets of Via Garibaldi and partly Via Balbi.
Genoa Aquarium
The largest aquarium in Italy and one of the largest in Europe is located in Genoa, near the old harbor. The entertainment and educational complex was built in the year of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America by Columbus, a native of this glorious Italian city, so the building looks like a ship.
Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation in Genoa
The Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation, a fine example of Genoese Baroque, is located within walking distance north of Piazza de Ferrari. This is one of the most beautiful temples of Genoa. Previously, on the site of the church there was a monastery founded in the 13th century by the Umiliates from Lombardy.
