Warm weather all year round, the beauty of nature, the thrill and comfort of all–inclusive resorts – that’s what the Bahamas offers guests. The country occupies more than 700 islands, but tourists mostly stay in Nassau or head to the northwest. There are clean beaches, a decent level of service, a lot of sports bases and attractions.
Karst funnel
Locals call it the Blue Hole of Deana. It is located near the coast of Long Island. From a bird’s-eye view, you can see how it stands out against the background of blue ocean water with its blue. This sinkhole is considered to be the deepest in the world among its kind – it descends 663 meters and has a diameter of 35 meters.
Divers and lovers of deep-sea swimming come here not only to admire the life of the ocean inhabitants, but also to get into a cave located in the depths with a width of more than 100 meters.
Boiling Lake
The oblong island of Cat Island is unique not only for its pristine natural beauty, but also for the absence of mass gatherings of tourists. And this is despite the fact that there are a lot of interesting things here.
In the depths of the island there is a lake with clear waters and an unusual “character”. During the tides, it turns from calm to spontaneous: it boils, bubbles – it really resembles a boiling and steaming cauldron. So far, no one has managed to explain this natural phenomenon, but locals believe that evil spirits live in the lake.
Long Island
The very name of the island speaks for itself – it is a very long stretch of land stretching for 100 kilometers. Long Island, like other local islands, is attractive for its pristine nature. Many people come here precisely for peace and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The nature of Long Island is diverse: there are sandy beaches and hills with caves and eroded rocky formations along the shores. In addition to seeking solitude, tourists go here for adventures – many are engaged in diving and extreme sports here.
Lukayan National Park
One of the islands – Grand Bahama and its city of Freeport can boast a picturesque natural park spread over 16 hectares of area. The forest is represented mainly by the Cuban pine, which is exotic for these places. And it is inhabited by wild mammals and birds with multicolored coloring.
On the coast, tourists explore caves that are considered to be among the smallest in the world. Near the Freeport, here and there are scattered dilapidated villages in which pirates once hid from persecution.
Paradise Island
The name of this place speaks for itself – for many connoisseurs of beautiful life, the island has become a real paradise. There are two bridges leading from Nassau to it, as well as luxury liners and yachts. Local landscapes are famous for the fact that they have repeatedly become scenery for the filming of famous Hollywood films.
People come here not only to enjoy the clear waters of the ocean and picturesque landscapes, but also to visit the Atlantis amusement park, which has absolutely everything – from swimming pools, casinos and water slides, ending with the Mayan pyramids and artificial rivers.
