Psychologists say that men who flirt at work do so primarily because of boredom, and secondly, because of lack of emotions.
To explore such an interesting aspect as flirting at work, a special study was conducted, which found that men who flirted with their female colleagues, were unhappy with their jobs. And this behavior partially compensates for the lack of emotions in work moments. Flirting with colleagues reduces boredom to a minimum level. It is also worth noting that subsequent observations of such men revealed that they have a rather low level of “emotional development”. They are also not able to understand other people's feelings deeply enough.
The second experiment looked at the behavior of women who flirt at work with their colleagues. Oddly enough, unlike men, the weaker half of humanity flirts not because they don't like their job. Psychologists from one of the research centers decided to test the theory that flirting contributes to promotion at work and obtaining a higher position. Professor Adrian Banks, who led the study, said: “What we found as a result of the experiments was surprising. It is absolutely certain that flirting between men and women is different. If the former flirt because they are more or less dissatisfied with their work, the fair half does not do it because they are not satisfied with something.”
However, flirting at work does not always help you move up the career ladder. And there is clear evidence of this. Psychologists also became interested in how men who like to flirt with colleagues differ from others. They found that men who like to flirt have much less understanding of other people's emotional background, and also have less control over their own emotions. And it is absolutely certain that flirting at work distracts men a little from uninteresting work and allows you to get rid of boredom. As for female flirting, this is not the best way to move up the career ladder and get the desired position.
There's another reason why people flirt at work. It's much simpler than it seems: flirting is a romance that allows you to improve relationships between colleagues, as well as seek help from a colleague of the opposite sex, if necessary.
