Unbelievable facts
Just recently, the 89th Academy Awards ceremony took place and the winners were announced.
This is not the first time that many famous actors appear on the Hollywood red carpet. It is all the more interesting to remember what they were like when their first ceremony took place.

Meryl Streep, 1979
29 years
After being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Deer Hunter, Meryl was nominated 19 more times and won two more Oscars. She is now the most Oscar-winning actress in history.
Drew Barrymore, 1983
8 years
Drew herself was not nominated for Best Actress, but the film E.T., in which she starred, won numerous awards. Drew wore a red carpet dress made by her mom and wore a pearl necklace given by Steven Spielberg.
Angelina Jolie, 1986
10 years
Angelina was at the award with her father Jon Voight, who was nominated for Best Actor in Runaway Train. In 2000, she won an award for her role as a supporting actress in Life Interrupted, and in 2009 she was nominated for Best Actress in “The Change”.
Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland, 1990
22 and 23 years respectively
Julia and Kiefer met on the set of the movie “Comatosers” and fell in love. At the time, however, Julia was engaged to Dylan McDermott, who played her husband in Steel Magnolias. Kiefer was also married to Camila Cat but later divorced in the early 1990s. Keefer and Julia were engaged the same year the photo was taken, however Julia called off their 1991 wedding a few days before the event.
Denzel Washington, 1990
35 years
In addition to winning an Oscar for Best Actor in Fame, Denzel was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Scream of Freedom. Also in 2002, he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Training Day, and was nominated 8 times for an Oscar in total.
Juliet Lewis and Brad Pitt, 1992
18 and 28 years old
Brad Pitt has been nominated for an Oscar six times, and won the award in 2014 as the producer of 12 Years a Slave. Brad and Juliet started dating after meeting on the set of Too Young to Die? in 1990 and broke up four years later.
Leonardo DiCaprio, 1994
19 years
Leonardo has been nominated six times for an Academy Award, the first time for his supporting role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He won the Oscar for Best Actor in The Revenant in 2016.
Gwyneth Paltrow, 1994
21 years
Shortly after this photo was taken, Gwyneth and Brad Pitt met on the set of Seven and dated for about three years. In 1999, Gwyneth Paltrow won the Oscar for Best Actress in Shakespeare in Love.
Halle Berry, 1996
29 years
In 2002, 10 days before Halley appeared on the red carpet, a new movie, “Ordered to Destroy,” was released, in which she co-starred with Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal. In 2002, she won the Best Actress Award in Monster Ball.
Kate Winslet, 1996
20 years
Kate has been nominated for an Academy Award seven times, winning the award in 2009 for Best Actress in The Reader. When the photo was taken, Kate was working on the movie Titanic, which was released in 1997.
Salma Hayek, 1997
30 years
Salma appeared at the first ceremony with singer Luis Miguel. In 2003, she was nominated for Best Actress in Frida.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, 1998
25 and 27 years
Childhood friends Ben and Matt attended the Oscars with their mothers, and Matt was nominated for Best Actor in Good Will Hunting. After that, Matt was nominated two more times, and Ben was nominated again for the best film “Operation Argo”, which won the “Best Picture” award.

At the first Oscar ceremony, Cameron appeared on the red carpet with her friend Matt Dillon. In the same year, the film “Everyone's Mad About Mary” with her participation was released.
Renee Zellweger, 1999
29 years
Renee was nominated just 3 times, winning an Oscar in 2004 for her role as a supporting actress in Cold Mountain.
Kate Hudson, 2001
21 years
Kate was nominated as a supporting actress in Almost Famous.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, 2001
26 and 27 years old
At the time the photo was taken, Reese and Ryan had been married for three years. In 2006, Reese won the Best Actress Award in Walk the Line, and in 2015 she was nominated for Wild.

Jennifer was never nominated for an Academy Award, but she was nominated three times for the Golden Globe when she won an award for her role in the TV series Friends in 2003.

Amy has been nominated for an Oscar five times for her work in The June Beetle (2005), Doubt (2008), The Fighter (2010), The Master (2012), American Hustle (2013).

In 2009, Anne was nominated for Best Actress in Rachel Getting Married. Also in 2013, she was awarded an award for her role as Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables.

Emma Stone was yet to be nominated in 2012 and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Birdman in 2015. In 2017, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in La La Land.
