Cathedral of San Petronio
The length of the basilica exceeds 130 m, and the height of the cathedral’s vault is 45 m. Among the extant Catholic churches, the cathedral ranks 15th in size. Its construction and the main task assigned to the architect was to surpass the Roman St. Peter’s Cathedral in size.
Archimnasium of Bologna
The Archimnasium of Bologna is probably one of the most significant buildings in the whole city. Once it was the main building of the University of Bologna, known throughout Europe. Dante, Petrarch and Copernicus studied here. Today it houses the municipal library.
Madonna di San Luca
The Madonna di San Luca is not only a recognizable landmark of the landscape surrounding Bologna, but also a place of worship for many believers. There is an image of Our Lady of San Luca, and a pilgrimage path up the hill leads to it.
